Skin/Body Caring. Caring is Sharing.

The Wardrobe Therapy girls have been posting about their skin, hair, and body-care routines. Ugh. This is something I really need to focus on. Reading about the products these girls use and stuff they do to pamper themselves makes me depressed. Makes me feel like less of a woman or something.

I've just never been one to focus on myself too much. Like, yeah, I prefer to be clean, smell nice, and look slightly put-together...but beyond that? I just don't do much.  But I want to.  I don't, because not doing is what I'm used to.  And I'm lazy.  And poor.

Very poor, so the products I use are lamely drugstore-ish.  The makeup I use is el cheapo crapo.  No fancy haircare products for me.  Not that that stuff bothers me - if it works.

Let's examine skincare today:

I use Dial body wash.  My favorite flavor is Soy and Almond Milk, but I can't find it everywhere.  Actually, the only place I can get it now (that I know of) is fucking Wal Mart. And I don't have good feelings about WM.  Dial body wash washes my body well.  Satisfied.  No expensive products needed in this area.

I use some junk on my face called Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub. I use it in the shower on my face, shoulders, and chest; and at nighttime on my face. It's ok...I'm sure it helps somewhat, although I don't see stellar zit-control results.  So, meh.

I know I should moisturize my face, right?  I've been told that even if you have oily skin, you still need to use a moisturizer.  This is just counter-intuitive to me.

My hands are a fucking mess, pretty much nine out of twelve months.  They do ok in the Summer, for whatever reason.  As oil-slicky as my face is, my hands are SO DISTURBINGLY DRY.  They crack easily, too.  I do clean quite a bit - don't wear like rubber cleaning gloves or any nonsense like that.  Also, hand-washing is pretty important to me.  I wash my hands tons less than I used to.  I'll admit to being quite obsessive-compulsive about having clean hands in the past...so I'm not going to feel bad about the amount of washing I do today.  Anyway, I use all kinds of lotions/creams on my hands.  I like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion for lubing up throughout the day.  Lubriderm, Curel, Olay - I'll use 'em all.  At night, my go-to product is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. The stuff is pretty amazing.  It's thick, though, and kinda greasy, so I just use it at night.  In the Winter, if I skip a night, my hands are cutty and cracky and burny the next day.  I need it that bad.  I'm very pleased with the Norwegian Formula, and will love it for always.

My hands are also big, ugly, man-hands.  I totally hate them.  My fingers are fat and stubby.  My nails are generally short, although I did let them get a little length on them for a manicure a couple of months ago.  I might be inclined to let them be prettier if I knew how to paint my own nails.  That's right.  I am female and am 35 years old and don't know how to properly paint my nails.  Lack of patience?  Lack of a steady hand?  Lack of the nail-painting chromosome?  I dunno.

Blech. Enough on the hands.

My feet - ugh...more drama there.  Hate 'em.  Ugliest body part by far.  However, the skin isn't bad there.  I throw some lotion on them occasionally, and that seems to be enough for them.  I don't generally have gross calluses or stuff like that, though I think my heels could look better.  As much as I despise my feet (they are wide and fat and big and the toes - eeek.  sick), I love getting pedicures.  Crazy, huh?  Like to have polish on my toes.  I guess any improvement is a positive thing in my book, so that's that.  My friend and I have talked about getting prof. pedis monthly, so that's rocking.

I think that wraps it up for skin stuff?  Did I leave anything out?  Up next?  Hair and Makeup.  Bet you're on the edge of your seat.
