...to you, my blog. Sorry. It came and went without even being noticed. No recognition. Your owner sucks! So, yes, that's six years of babbling. That's a lot of words. And really, that's a long time. Six years ago, I was the clueless parent of a nine month old, relatively easy baby. I was longing for someone to talk to, so I decided to talk to the world. Hahaha. Ok, my only readers were a few family members and the chicas on my baby message board, but still.
Today, I'm the clueless mother of a nearly 7 year old, a 4.5 year old, and a nearly 3 year old. And an 11 year old dog. Wow. Also, I'm a completely different person! Crazy what six years will do.
In six years:
2004
-my dad got sick.
-my dad got a bone marrow stem cell xplant.
-my dad died.
-tried for 10 months to conceive a baby.
2005
-my sister moved across the country.
-delivered a beautiful baby boy, finally, who turned out to be the biggest challenge ever.
2006
-my sister moved back home.
-hey, hey! postpartum depression! yeeee!
-had longest year of my life.
-surprise, you're pregnant!
-wandered around in a disbelieving daze for two full months.
-met my awesome message board girls in Chicago!
2007
-got a MINIVAN.
-had a beautiful baby girl, who was neither easy nor difficult.
-sold a house/moved to a newish house 2 weeks after having a c-section.
-got bitten by my own dog. Learned Hanker was really sick. Hank died.
-hey, hey! postpartum depression! yeeee!
-got on the happy pills.
2008
-loved new house/neighborhood.
-became an aunt to my beautiful niece, Rowan.
-got a work-from-home, part-time, contract gig with google. Loved it. Felt good about self. Husband hated it. Of course.
2009
-kids got a little more independent, found a little more time for myself, found things to make me smile. Husband hated them. Of course.
-had slight female skin cell scare and fun biopsy.
-on doctor's recommendation, I started to (reluctantly) wean from happy pills.
-finally got my tonsils checked out. They are abnormally laaarrrrrgggge...size 4 on a 1 - 5 scale. ENT recommended yanking them, which is kind of a big deal for an old lady. Scheduled surgery.
-husband decided to hit the road. I am an awful wife and we are not a fit.
-went a little crazy for about 3 weeks.
-had to cancel tonsillectomy, since husband went splitsville.
-got back on happy pills.
-tried in vain to win husband's affection. Totally bought into the belief that I was crap and everything about me needed to change or the world would implode.
-started seeing a therapist.
-slowly figured out that I'm an ok gal and began to accept my new role as an unmarried mother of three.
2010
-lost a buncha weight.
-learned that I have amazingly supportive family and friends who, for some reason, think I am da bomb.
-decided that being dumped was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Filed for divorce.
-met new friends, enjoyed myself, looked for a job, drank a lot of wine...
And that brings us to today! So, yeah, a lot's changed since I started this here weblog. I'm excited about my future. Ready to move along. Wonder what next year's update will look like?
