Things I Think Smell Nice, and Why.

Alternate title: This Makes Me Seem Like More of a Freak Than I Really Am.

Bookstores.  Fresh, new books.  Yum.  I could walk up and down the aisles and just breathe all day.  Or for an hour.  Also, big ole chain bookstores generally have a coffee area and I love that smell, too.  I loved the scent of coffee before I was ever a coffee drinker.

Bleach.  Because I love chemicals and they smell clean.  I will forever bleach my whites, not because I particularly care how bright they look, but because I love that delicious bleachy smell.

New Cars, New Buildings, New Carpet, Most New Shoes.  New, new, new.  Chemicals, chemicals, chemicals.

Good Rubber.  New car tires.  The bike section at Target.  Just let me walk slowly past...I won't make it blatantly obvious that I'm breathing in as deeply as possible.

Fuel, as in - but not limited to - unleaded gasoline and diesel.  Yes, I like being behind buses.  I linger in parking garages.  I promise, I care about our environment, I do.  Can't help what I like, though.

The Home Depot.  This place is filled with fabulous smells. Lumber. Chemical-y plant fertilizers. Concrete mixes. Carpet remnants. Tile. Grout. Green board. The list goes on and on.

Cucumbers.  I just like the way they smell.  They are tasty, as well.

Tide Laundry Detergent.  Liquid.  Clean Breeze is my favorite, but I like 'em all.  I won't wash my towels in Tide, though.  Purex for towels.

Dial Soy and Almond Milk Body Wash.  Soy? Gross. Almonds? Gross. Milk? Gross.  Put them all together in a slippery gel-like substance, and I'm hooked.

L'oreal Vive Pro Glossy Volume shampoo in the bright pink bottle.  Love this scent.  (I just sniffed my hair.)

Baby heads.  Just because.  I'm a girl.  I'm a mom.

Pool Chlorine.  Chemicals. It's what I recall most from my years working at the YMCA.

Vinegar.  Don't judge.  I just like it.  I clean with vinegar.

Vanilla.  Bean, extract, fake scented candle, whatever. I'm part-girl. I like vanilla.

I think I'll stop here.

This is why we are friends, in addition to being sisters. Except for vinegar...that's just weird. There's nothing even remotely toxic about it. Why waste your time?
