They say it's my birthday
Well, it's great to be 35 30 today! Here I am, alive, healthy, surrounded by gorgeous children, a loving family, and supportive friends. It's awesome. Reading and hearing about the devastation the earthquakes in Haiti have caused has really made me look at my life - flawed as it is - and appreciate the amazing things I am blessed to have. The amazing people I am blessed to know. I was listening to NPR in the car last night, and was just bowled over by their reporting of medical volunteers, being forced to watch children die because their makeshift facilities can't handle the type of surgery they need...and because planned trucks fail to arrive to take them elsewhere for proper treatment. Hard to hear. Images on the news/internet hard to see. It's really humbling.

Humbling, indeed.
It is your birthday, though-- and I hope that this year is your best yet. You deserve it, Melzer!
I'm so lucky to call you my friend-- love you!
On a side note, the word verification for that was:
"tencenho"
Which I read as "ten cent ho" What the hell, blogger? :D
Happy birthday, Melzer! I agree that Haiti has really put some things in perspective for me too. It is so sad to hear the stories and see the images. I actually had to pull my minivan over one night because the stories were just so powerful.
Well, I really hope this year is a fantastic year for you. I consider myself lucky to be your friend too.
P.S. My word was "comon". Like "come on". That could be a bit dirty too, blogger...
I have to just donate and not listen. If I listen I fall into debilitating fear and depression.
BUT--
Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have a wonderful day and have some yummy cake.
(I got "serba" Blogger listened, girls;)
