Bein' Lazy

What I am doing: Sitting outside on the back patio, in the warm sun with the nice breeze. Luke is pretending to give me a shower with the spray nozzle from the hose.

What I should be doing: Google work. Watering the newly planted, but sorry-looking flowers out front. Or the hanging basket. Helping Tony make dinner. Laundry. Blowing bubbles with Luke. Catching up on emails.

Cam took (is taking) a nap today. It's the first time in a long time, but it's a long time coming! I think a lot of his punky attitude and careless behavior lately stems from the missing naps. Well, and from being nearly five years old...which he will be on Monday!

This Saturday is Tony's company picnic at King's Island. We're leaving Claire at home with Aunt Amy and are taking the boys for a day of fun. I hope it's fun, at least. There is a chance of rain. I need to upload the pictures from the darn camera soon, otherwise there'll be no room for KI action shots. It's been on my To Do list for days now...

Cam's birthday party is next Saturday, the 5th. Hopefully, lots of people will be busy with the holiday weekend, and won't be able to come. Am I the only person around who hopes for a small turnout? I am just so over big parties, but can't seem to whittle the guest list down enough to make it small. Darn families! Next year, we'll be combining Cameron's and Claire's parties, since their birthdays are a month apart.

I'd like to get the playroom painted by the party, but I don't see that happening since this weekend is booked. And we don't have a paint color picked out. But I have an idea of what I want...something darker than the kitchen shade, but in the same line.

Luke's now playing baseball with himself. He's attempting to throw the ball in the air and hit it with the bat. He's actually enjoying himself. "I almost hit it, Mom!" he just told me. "I'm going to try again."

Know what? I love my house. I love it. I love where we live, even though it's 85 miles from the interstate (well, not quite, but it's not 2 miles from the interstate like we were used to). I love that it's quiet. I actually take pride in our house, and sort of enjoy taking care of it. I'm happy here. I look forward to the years that come, when we finish the basement, and extend the dining area, and stuff like that.

Now Luke's playing golf with the baseball and bat.

Claire's awake now. She's at the back door, looking at me out here. I feel kind of guilty that I'm out here and she's inside! Luke just asked her, thorough the glass door, "wanna play baseball wit me, Claire? I swing and you throw, okay?"

All right, I'm going back in. Later, gator.
