More art

So, I totally unintentionally ripped Julie off. She, too, had posted a picture of Aspen's babyfood some months ago. I totally remember seeing that blog. I can't imagine why I thought I was being creative with my picture! I guess I just got so excited that I had actually organized the jars so nicely in the cabinet.

So, continuing on (let's see whose idea I've stolen this time!)...

I call this one "Cam's Colorful Lunch"

And here is a two-part piece:

Part I is called "Cam yelling 'Sur!'"

Part II is called "Cam yelling 'prise!"

Finally, I've titled this one "Toothy Grin"

Yum

Two words: Plate Licker.

That is what I've been reduced to.

What made me lick my plate? Two fabulous dishes from Lean Cuisine:

Sesame Chicken

Chicken and Vegetables

I highly recommend both. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

How's that for positive?

Of late...

Luke is 9 months old! Check out his 9-month pictures when you have a moment. He had his check up on the 14th, and everything is perfectly well with the Luker. He weighs 25 lbs, 4.5 oz and is 30.5 inches tall. At the 100th percentile for both. My kids are so big.

Yesterday, we went to my niece Riley's birthday party. I can't believe she's a year already. You know what that means...Luke will be one in three months! Blows my mind. The boys both had a fun time playing. There were lots of little kids there. Let's see...a 4 year old girl, an almost-4 year old boy, Cam, a 2 year old girl, Riley, Luke, a four month old girl and a two month old boy. It was chaotic, but kind of neat. I've yet to upload the pics, but I'm thinking we got some good shots.

Ugh. I'm seriously feeling not right lately. It's like I'm permanently in a not-good mood. Not always a bad mood, though...sometimes just a neutral mood. I want to feel happy and be cheerful at least half of the time. I just feel so f-ing tired lately. And overwhelmed. I can't even explain why I'm overwhelmed. I tried to tell Tony, but he just acted like I was goofy. Well, shit, they are my feelings. It's just what I feel - I can't help if it doesn't make sense. Not everything has to be rational. Like, some days, Luke's crying and Cam's fits are just part of the day - no big deal. Other days, these things just irritate me to no end and make me feel so helpless. I think being so tired plays a large part. I also need to find some way to adjust my attitude, to adopt a positive outlook. It's just hard. Change is hard, and it takes effort. I just don't feel like I have the energy to put forth effort. God, this all sounds so lame.

Anyway, I'm getting out of the house alone for a couple of hours today to spend some time with my sister (because I only see her like 6 out of 7 days a week already! wink, wink). Hopefully, a change of scenery and some non-kid time will clear my head some.

Off to clean the kitchen...as usual!

BadBadBadBadBadBad me.

Today sucks.
This is going to be the most negative, feeling-sorry-for-myself post ever.
If it could go wrong today, it has.
My period is so heavy, it's alarming. Every time I pee, it looks like a crime scene.
I've had a pounding headache for two days.
Cam turned a potty full of pee completely upside down. Pee got on all parts of the potty and all parts of the bathroom floor.
I've totally fucked up our bank account and we are so overdrawn it's not funny. I have no clue where my head is lately. The kids and I just had to go to the bank and deposit a check from our credit card. A big deposit.
I've decided that if I mess up the the bill paying one more time, Tony will take over the finances. I just suck.
I started a new budget, with current amounts due, due dates, balances, etc, and Excel errored and had to be closed. I had not saved my work. Of course.
No one will listen to me today. Including Hank, who I'm about to strangle.
I feel like a complete fucking loser and a failure. I can't do ANYTHING right. I'm not good at anything. Everything I touch turns to crap.

The good news? Lukey is crawling and waving and I've got videos. The bad news? I'm too fucking stupid to learn how to get them off the camera and onto our site.

I heart the basement

This is basement cleanout weekend, and it's HAAARRRRRD. I can think of nothing (household-related, anyway) I'd like to do less. I'd even scrub the bathtub over sifting through the flotsam and determining what to keep or pitch, and how to store the stuff we're keeping. It's dusty and dirty and dead-buggy down there and it makes my nose runny and sneezy and I just feel grimy. Yesterday, we got most of the Throw Away items and the Keep items out of the basement and into the garage. Today has been try-to-clean-up the floors, drop ceiling, furniture day, as well as laundry room clean-out day. The whole procedure just sucks. Yes, it's hard work, but what really sucks is that it won't end up looking nice....just not as cluttered. We don't know what we're going to do with that hellhole yet. Currently, we have a leak problem on one wall. The entire area has shit-brown paneling. There is ratty, torn-up in spots, bright green flat, thin carpet that is glued to the floor in most of the basement...just concrete (with residual glue and spots with thin layers of wood subfloor scattered about for variety) in one section (aka The Dog Room). Lovely, dingy, drop ceiling tiles that need to be replaced. Ugh. Hate the place. We totally need to get it in decent shape before we even think about listing this house. I'm not talking drywall or anything....we need to solve the water problem. need to replace at least the section of paneling that is all moldy from water damage. need to paint existing paneling or replace it (that would be a mammoth task). need to do something with the floors. It's very daunting to even think about it all. OK, now that I'm depressed, I will head back down to help put the Keep items back in the "living area."

Sorry about your luck, reader

So here's a recap since the last entry. In painstaking detail.

June 27 - can't recall. I'm pretty certain we did something with Amy that day.

June 28 - Tony and Cameron got haircuts. I got my brows waxed. Then we went to Skyline, where Tony and I ate 3-ways (and sweetened tea & Dr. Pepper, respectively), Cam ate a bun, french fries, crackers and what he calls "Skyline Milk" (chocolate milk), and Luke ate crackers, shredded cheese, babyfood and water.

June 29 - Tony was off work and we cleaned most of the day, in preparation for C-notes birthday party. Amy watched Luke while Tony and I took Cameron to his 3-year well visit at 4pm. Cam weighs 40 pounds and is 40.5 inches tall. 95th + percentile, as usual. He is perfect. His speech is normal for a 3-year-old, although it is at the lower end of normal. Dr. Cahill is not concerned at all. She says his consonants will likely get clearer when he starts preschool in the fall (my speech therapist sister-in-law agrees). I'm not worried about it. Very much, anyway. When Dr. C peeked in his pull-up, Cam said, "that's my bits and pieces." That night, Amy, Cam and I went to Olive Garden for dinner and then picked up some party supplies. After the kids went to bed, I went to Kroger to get food for the the party.

June 30 (my big man's birthday) - Tony was off work and we cleaned most of the day. Cam and I went to Portrait Innovations at 4pm to get his 3-year portraits done and they are awesome! (keep clicking Next>> to see all of them) While the pictures were printing, Cam and I walked to Auntie Anne's and had pretzel sticks and lemonade. Then we picked up the pics, went through KFC's drive thru, went home and ate. Then Tony mowed the grass. Then we cleaned some more.

July 1 - we cleaned in the morning, getting ready for Cam's big bash. The party was a huge success. We had meatball sandwiches, french fries, green beans, potato salad, fruit tray, veggie tray, blt dip, chips and - of course - cake and ice cream. The Chicken Little decorations and cake turned out cute, I thought. Our bakery didn't have a Chicken Little-themed cake, so I bought some stuff off ebay to decorate it myself. Check out my
amazing bobblehead and bottlecap placement talent. After the party, and after Luke went to bed, we went swimming in our next door neighbors' pool (which is now an annual tradition).

July 2 - I can't remember that we did anything! I'm almost certain that we saw Aunt Amy that day, though...

July 3 - Tony was off work. We did a few errands. Went to this godforsaken local toy store in search of a birthday gift for my second cousin, who was turning four. Four-year-old boys are hard to buy for. In my opinion. We ended up getting a few airplane-themed toys, even though one of them was for ages 6+. What can you do. Then we ate lunch at LaRosa's. Tony and I spit a medium pizza...my half had mushrooms and onions, his half had chicken and bacon. Yin and Yang, huh? We both drank Cherry Coke. Cam had chicken tenders and smiles (which are tater tots, pretty much) and chocolate milk, I think. Luke had pizza crust, applesauce, something else and water. Next, we went to Petsmart, where we visited the fish, birds, rodents and kitties; saw a puppy training class; and purchased dogfood, a pet sponge for cleaning dog hair and dust from various furniture pieces and blinds, and something called Stink Stopper pills for our B.O. dog, Walter. Only I didn't know they are giant capsules, so I am afraid to administer them. Walter is the kind of "oh yes, Mother, I obediently swallowed my pill, now turn your head while I discretely spit it out." Finally, we stopped at Kroger, for ingredients to make BLT dip once again and a few other things that I can't remember.

July 4 - we went to my Aunt Vicki's house for an Independence Day/Lane's Birthday celebration. It stormed and we stayed inside a lot. That night, Luke slept about 10 hours straight.

July 5 - Amy took Cam to see "Cars." He only made it through half of the movie. He just got bored and tired. It was a long one. Amy and I went to dinner at Macaroni Grill that night. Then we stopped at Target for birthday cards, a shower curtain (for Mom), breast pads (aren't you glad you know?) and baby wipes. Oh and Amy got some pressed powder. Can't forget that important detail. I had to pee, so I stopped off in the bathroom before we went home. That night, Luke slept about 10 hours straight. Really wondered if this was the beginning of an awesome permanent sleeping pattern!

July 6 - did laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, watered the plants on the front porch, bathed both boys, paid bills. Went to Mom's house for dinner. Amy's friend, Sara, was there and she's a lot of fun. She cracks me up. That night, Luke woke up twice, inconsolable both times. Piss.

Which brings me to July 7, today. Finally, you say! We met our friend Sherry and her daughter, Emily (who is almost 14 months) at song/storytime at their library. Luke liked it! Cam got bored toward the end (it was geared toward babies). Then we went to Skyline (surprise) for lunch with Sherry and Emily. The kids were wonderful and it was sweet to have an adult conversation. Even if we talked mostly about the kids. Both boys went down for a nap when we got home, and I got the mail, started a load of laundry and loaded the dishwasher. Now I am blogging and checking email/message boards. I forgot to mention that I peed when we got home and that I changed both boys' diapers. And that Cam's was dry when he got up this morning, but he refused to pee on the potty. So he peed in his fresh diaper. But he peed on the potty before our shower (yes, we shower together sometimes and yes, he knows that I don't have a penis, since I'm a girl, but that it's ok because I can still pee anyway). And his diaper was dry when we got home from storytime and that he peed on the potty once more.

Aren't you glad all of my blog entries aren't like this?!

Have a lovely weekend!
