Spelling Ace, I am Not

Note to self - it's jambalaya, not jambalya, dumbass. How many times can you misspell it? Someone around here sure sucks!

The possible UTI turned into a full-blown killer gen-u-ine UTI last week. Thursday morning, I had the most horrific peeing pain and noticed blood in my urine, as well. Got in to see the doc that morning. I told him I might be preggers, so he prescribed a med called Nitrofurantoin (no, I did not make that name up!) that is safe for pregnant people (and potentially pregnant people, like myself). I really did not start feeling better until Saturday, but I feel quite normal (for me, anyway) today. As for the potentially pregnant part, today is cycle day 24. I expect my period September 3rd or 4th. Can I hold off and not test until period is late? Doubtful. I'll probably test Thursday the 2nd. We'll see!

Our lovely new porch railings and posts are done! I think it makes the house look a bazillion times better. Gone are the rusty, wobbly iron rails! They've been replaced with shiny, sturdy aluminum/vinyl rails! OK, here are some befores and afters (warning: the "befores" are kinda dated).

Cam and I ran a ton of errands today. First we waited in line for EVER to get an emissions check on the Taurus. Has to be done every other year in good ole Kentucky before they let you renew your registration. Any other states have this? Of course, we passed (barely any cars fail, even apparent junkers). Then we headed to the courthouse to stand in line for an eternity to renew the registration. Cam was great - he flirted with everone in line, waving and smiling at them all - but I sure was getting impatient. Guess that's what I get for waiting until the second to last day of the month to get this stuff done. Could be worse...I'll bet the lines tomorrow are 4x as long. Then we went to the post office, where there was no line! For the first time ever. Really, I've never been to our post office and not waited in line. Finally, we headed to Office Depot to pick up a little "at-a-glance" planner for me. As soon as we got home, Cam went down in the cribber for some snooze action.

We, including my dearest husband Tony, are heading up to Fairfield tonight to check out the "new" mall. It's been remodled with new stores. I'm looking forward to it. I guess I can't be let down...I get to eat Old Spaghetti Factory and go to Babies R Us, so anything else will be a bonus.

OH, important note: my dad's spleenectomy has been moved up to September 8th. It's so freaking huge that they want to get it out ASAP now. They'd do it sooner, but Dad has a gum infection from some dental work he had done in May. The infection has been off and on since then. Well, it's back on. Hopefully the stuff they put him on this time will do the trick in time for the surgery.

Ok, well, next time we'll talk books. I finished one and started another and have a lot to say.
