Since it's been ages....

Time for an update. Sorry it has been so long...things have just been busy as all get out. (Busy as all get out?!?!) Anyway, Cameron's surgery went well. We went to Children's satellite outpatient surgery place in Mason Tuesday morning. It was awesome there. Nice play area with gobs of toys. He loved his "check-in-check-your-vitals" nurse. He even offered to let her hold Baby (the puppy)! You know he really likes you when he lets you hold the coveted Baby. Things were just great there. The pace was slower and more relaxed than Children's main campus. Pretty much, with his tear duct surgery at the main campus, Cam cried the whole time before the surgery. He was so agitated and uncomfortable in our little holding cell-type room. He had a blast at Mason Tuesday. He loved the lego table. God forbid - if we have to have any other surgeries, I hope we can have them done in Mason. Oh yeah, back to the surgery. Cam played happily until it was time to go back for the "sleepy gas." I went with him again. My only complaint was that this time, I was not able to hold him while they administered the anesthesia. I sat across from him, close, and pretty much hugged him/held his arms down while he sat on the bed. The surgery took about an hour and the urologist (who I really like and feel very comfortable with) came out and said everything was fine. We went back to recovery about 5 minutes later and sat with Cam for about a half hour. He had an I.V. in and it was kind of cute! I mean, that sounds nuts, but his little bag of fluid and the tiny little line was just kind of sweet. He was sedated, but still Cam. He slept most of the drive home, and when we did get home, he napped for almost four hours. When he got up, he was normal old Cameron, just a little cuddlier. The next day, he was perfect. The only side-effects, if you can call them that: up until Saturday, when we changed his diaper and had to put ointment on the sore parts, he screamed. And up until today, he was not allowed to soak in a bath, so we had to give him a shower (no small feat). We go back to see the urologist the first week of January for a follow up.

Thursday, we went to Jim & Jan's for Thanksgiving. It was ok. It wasn't the end of the world or anything. It was totally and completely unorganized. She said we were eating at 2pm, so we arrived at 1pm, but dinner wasn't ready until 3:30 and that's because Tony pushed and pushed to get things moving. He practically did most of it. Jan is such a lazy slouch. Cam's third cousin, Scott, was there - he's 6 months older than C - but they did not interact at all. Most of the time, they were in separate rooms (C-note wandered about the house most of the day anyway!) but when we did sit them down together, they did not interact at all.

Friday, we put up the Christmas tree and met Mom and Amer for dinner at Fridays. Then they came over after and watched Jeopardy (we know how to have a rocking time!) to see if Ken lost. He didn't. Tony read on the internet that he loses this Tuesday.

Saturday, my Aunt Vicki had her Thanksgiving dinner. It was yum and fun. Cam acquired a girlfriend there. My cousin's friends came and brought their two little girls. Cam's woman is named Madeline and is 3 years old! She liked him because she thinks babies are cute and he liked her because he likes older women! Would you like to see some pictures of the happy couple? Cam's hair looks like that because he rubbed his plate on his head. I tried to get the food out with a baby wipe and just decided to give him a mohawk. His hair had a styling gel-like quality the rest of the night.

Yesterday, we had Mom, Amy and Shawn over for dinner. I think it went well. We had ham, Amy's cheesy potatoes, green beans, corn and biscuits. Mom brought deviled eggs (I've been craving them), Amy brought choco chip cookies (craving those also) and I made salami rolls. Gotta love the salami. Cam entertained us all with his antics. We took a couple of family shots using the camera's timer, but they didn't turn out very well. We had an uncooperative toddler.

Jan called Saturday morning and she sounded like crap. She said she had a sore throat and to watch Cam because she was in his face all day Thursday. Said she knew she had a sore throat, but didn't think it was anything. Lovely. Sooooo, today Cameron wakes up with a cold! How nice! I mean, he could have gotten it from Jan or the kids at Vicki's Saturday, but it really pisses me off that she'd knowingly expose her grandson to a potential cold! The woman would not put him down for anything Thursday. Even when he pushed away from her and struggled to get down. Gotta love the inlaws.

OK, I'm going to stop typing now. My back and shoulders are starting to hurt from slouching at the computer!
