Until very recently, I thought the term 'intents and purposes' (like, "For all intents and purposes, this case is closed") was 'intensive purposes.' Am I stupid or what? Now what was my major in college again? English, you say? Doh!
So, I'm sketchy on a lot of this, because I wasn't there, but here it is anyway. My dad checked into the hospital Monday. They surgically implanted a catheter into his chest that has like 4 I.V. lines. (wow, look at that. I said 4. Then I said I.V. IV is 4 in Roman numerals! See, I DID pay attention in 6th grade math!) So, then they did an xray and sent him to his room for bloodwork, settling in, blah blah blah. Then they started his first chemo treatment. I did not visit that night because he was busy and settling and Mom advised against it. So Tuesday rolls around and my throat hurts and my nose is a little runny. Same with Cameron. If you have a cold, you can't visit the Bone Marrow Unit. I don't know if it's really a cold or just sinus irritation, but I guess it's smart not to take chances. Tony visited Dad last night in my place. He found out that, apparently, there is part of a formerly-implanted catheter in Dad's chest - leftover from last time! What? The matter is confusing to me. Today they are removing it. Don't know the details at all. Sounds whacked, for sure. I really wish I had been there to hear the explanation first hand. Aside from that, Dad said he doesn't feel bad. He notices a difference, but it's not bad yet. He gets chemotherapy through Saturday and then has a "day of rest" on Sunday. Monday is the transplant.
I'm back on my computer. Thank goodness. We still have lots of programs to put back on. I do have the important stuff - email, internet browser, excel (time to get to work on recreating my budget). I really need to get caught up with replying to my emails. Sorry, guys!
I don't know when I became such a freak (or was I born this way?) but I am totally addicted to macaroni salad. Store brand. I eat it like every day. I guess there are odder things to crave, but macaroni salad? Unique, I think.
It's a dreary Wednesday today. Hope it's more pleasant where you live. Enjoy the day.
Oh! I almost forgot again. I've been a real slacker in listing what I'm thankful for. Today, I'm thankful that my son like hugs and kisses. When I'm holding him, if I pucker my lips, he'll lean his head forward so that it touches my lips. He's such a sweetheart!
