Birthdays, Weddings, Transmissions and the Like

So......
We sent out invites to Cameron's July 3rd birthday party this past Friday. 6 people have RSVPd so far. We are getting his cake from Busken Bakery. I was planning to ask the lady who did our wedding cake to make Cam's birthday cake, but when I called her, I found out the number was disconnected! We got a sample from Busken and it was divine, so I'm pleased nonetheless. (Isn't "nonetheless" a funny word?) So, the party is from 2 - 4. We're gonna have a veggie tray, mini sandwiches (ham & cheese and pimento cheese), potato chips, pretzels and Sun Chips, Cake and Ice Cream and assorted soft drinks.

I hope everyone leaves at 4pm, because we need to get ready for a wedding that starts at 6:30. The wedding is in Hillsboro, and we aren't familiar with the location, so we should probably leave extra early. Grandma Jan is watching Cam for us that night. I'm thinking he'll either be completely wired or extremely exhaused from the day's activities.

Amy watched Cam for me today while I went to the gym. Yes, you heard it right - I actually went to work out. It was nice. It was really nice for her because he slept the entire time I was gone! She stayed and played with him while I got a shower afterward. Having a sister who is a teacher - and is off in the summer - is awesome!!

Some terrible news. My car is broken! The transmission needs major work and it's going to cost us a bundle. The Taurus is only 2 years old, but we bought it used and it had been a rental car. Blah. Makes me think I should look for some part time work. We really need to get some bills payed down before we start to think about a larger house. So, yeah, I need a job that is not too crappy, will allow me to work either at night or on the weekend and does not take up too much of my free time! I really only want to work like 10 hours a week. I'm sure my "dream" part time job does not exist. I would work from home, whenever I wanted, and I'd get to say how much work I do.

On a very lovely note, I think the cicadas are gone! I mowed the back yard Monday night and did not see one. Well, maybe I saw one on a tree, now that I think of it. I could hear them still, but they were nowhere NEAR as loud as they have been. This is awesome news for Cameron's birthday party. People can hang out outside now.

We are getting a pizza for dinner tonight. And for that, I am excited! I hope your dinner plans are as exciting as ours!
