Listening to: my BNL Cincinnati Holiday concert bootleg cd (except I'm skipping over the Christmas songs)
Reading: the very last pages of Eats, Shoots & Leaves (it was preempted by People magazine)
Do you listen to Rush? Or should I say, did you listen to Rush in like the 80s? I am not exactly a fan. I mean, I listened to Rush when they came on the radio...popular songs like: Fly by Night, Closer to the Heart, Tom Sawyer. To tell you the truth, I always got Rush confused with Styx. You know, they both have singers with unnaturally high pitched voices. Yes, and both band names are one syllable. Anyway, Rush performed for the Canada for Asia Tsunami benefit, and Ed Robertson from BNL played with them. So I was watching the video stream, to see Ed of course, but let me tell you - Rush kinda rocks! Seriously, Getty Lee is a kiss-ass bass player. I always thought Rush was known for its amazing percussion. Forget that! The bass playing is what stands out for me. Not that my new obsession will be Rush or anything. I'm not that fickle - oh no - I will continue to listen to the crap out of BNL until I can't stand it anymore. That's just how I am.
It all started with Paul McCartney in the first grade. Overindulged on Paul, The Wings and The Beetles. Then I moved onto Wham! in the fourth grade. Then the metal hair bands like Poison and Bon Jovi in middle school. Then I did a 180 and was briefly obsessed with New Kids on the Block (gag). Then I came to my senses and fixated on Led Zeppelin for awhile (still love them). Next up: Queen. That began my senior year and continued until about the late 90s. Enter Red Hot Chili Peppers. I wasn't exactly infatuated with them or anything, but there was a time when they were all I listened to. I got into Barenaked Ladies sometime in 2000, I think. Whenever their Behind the Music was big on VH1. Anyway, I listened to BNL when I was in labor with Cam! The anesthesiologist commented on what a cool band they are. Good to know the lady threading the needle in your back has good tastes!
I do this with food, too. I've been know to eat Mac and Cheese until I can't see straight, and then have to swear off the stuff for months. Chocolate, been there. Coke, yep. Spaghetti, uh-huh. Name any food, really, and I've been obsessed with it. This is especially true for restaurants. We ate at Old Spaghetti Factory so much that it started to not even taste good anymore! Yes, I have obsessive-compulsive tendencies. It drives Tony crazy. He just doesn't share in my intense love for whatever it is I'm loving at the moment. OK, I'm a freak. Oh well, what can you do?
Oh, I forgot to report my weigh-in from Friday. I was quite nervous, since I'd eaten like a piglet most of last week. I was convinced I'd gained back all four lbs I'd lost. But no! Thankfully, I was status quo! No gaining, no losing. I'm cool with it, though! I'm off the cola again starting tomorrow. I hope to be down at least a pound by Friday the 21st.
Goal for the coming week: concentrate on one room each day, while keeping the rest of the house moderately straightened.
Monday = bathroom
Tuesday = living room
Wednesday = Cam's room
Thursday = Office (that's a biggie)
Friday = kitchen/dining room
All while, of course, keeping up with the laundry. Who am I kidding? I've never been caught up on laundry!
Tony's been working his ass off lately. He's on the most messed up, time-consuming (time-wasting, more like) project at work. He had to work two full days this weekend. I feel horribly for him. So yesterday and today were not like weekend days at all for Cameron and me. Just your average "Daddy's at work" weekdays. Except Target was obnoxiously crowded yesterday afternoon. That would never happen on a weekday. I hope Tony gets next weekend off. He needs a break in the worst way, and I need to spend time with my husband. Adult interaction is a good thing!
'Sgetting late and I need to fold the towels and switch the stuff in the washer to the dryer still. Then I'll go lie down and finish my book. Finally! See you tomorrow. Keep obsessing!
