Everybody's being thankful

Everyone else is doing it, so I don't want to.  However, it's a good exercise to put yourself in a more positive space.  I am thankful....

Even though my laptop hinge is suddenly broken and I can't close it without metal and plastic scraping and the monitor threatening to break right on off, I am thankful for my computer and the internet.  My portal to the world.  Where I read, learn, communicate, play, chat, maintain friendships.

Thanksgiving.  The holiday.  It's not really that meaningful to me...I'm kind of a believer of showing thanks and loving and appreciating family all the live long year, so one day I can generally take or leave.  I'd be perfectly fine spending this holiday working or cloistered up alone in my apartment.  But this year, I'm off work, have the kids, and will be joining my family for The Feast.  I am thankful for Thanksgiving: The Feast.  The Turkey.  Oh, the turkey...I'm getting a little tingly just thinking about it.

Though I'm admittedly part-man, and have accepted my tomboy tendencies, I am thankful for the aspects of me that are feminine.  In practice, my footwear is all about function...but I can appreciate a cute pair of shoes.  I have some good curves that lend to looking soft and lovely, and I like that.  I have feelings, and even though I despise them at times, I'm glad to be a person who can emote.  I like pretty painted toenails.  I like girly films, inspirational stories, and all that junk makes me cry.

These kids are awesome.  They explain things to me like I'm completely unable to comprehend.  It's awesome and makes me smile, even when I'm in a grumpy mood.  I'm thankful that Cam understands quirky, dry humor.  I love that Luke gets excited about photography and that he wants to take care of us all.  Claire is just enthusiastic about everything, thinks I'm the shiz, and is a spunky little thang.  I'm especially thankful that they all have unique personalities and aren't little robots, or worse - little punkasses.

I'm thankful for my many talents:  speaking out of turn, unintentionally offending, placing toilet paper on the holder properly, extreme dishwasher loading, managing not to run out of gas even when the fuel indicator is on, spelling, brushing teeth, caring about others, hugging, observing, being open-minded, typing, finding humor, indulging, and cursing.

Also thankful that I have the power to stop writing about being thankful right now.
