So white, so beautiful

I went for a walk in the snow...

I took out the garbage. I had partially cleaned out the fridge. I smoked a cigarette. I realized that one inch can accumulate goddamn quickly. I watched the flakes coming down, and realized that the snow is beautiful and amazing and cold. I looked at my footprints and realized that I walk funny. I thought about the past year and realized that I have come so far. I missed what I no longer have. I appreciated what I've held in my hands, but what slipped through my fingers so quickly. I absorbed what I've learned, what I've gained, what I now know...and I am thankful for this past year. For this wondrous snowfall. For all that I'm blessed with, for the people in my life, for my past, for my present, for my future. For everything: the happy, the difficult, the challenging, the amazing, the yet-to-be.
