In which Melzer discovers she is boring and has no style

So, my friend Cookbook is participating in this wardrobe therapy deal, where you examine your style, evaluate your wardrobe and throw out the junk that doesn't work, think about accessories and makeup and stuff, and overall feel better about yourself as a result of the exercise. I dunno if that's really the mission statement of Wardrobe Therapy...but that's my extremely simple take on it.

I could not do this. First, I don't even have a style. I'm not sure I care enough about style for the project to hold my interest for several weeks. Also, I don't have much of a wardrobe. I've lost weight, and most of the fatter clothes I had were crap anyway. Old, out-of-style numbers that were purchased without much thought because (A) I didn't care about myself, (B) I was a fat cow anyway, so who cares what it looked like, and (C) I really would have rather spent money and time picking out stuff for the kids. The clothes in my closet that fit me are few and far between, and at the present, I don't have the money to improve my wardrobe anyway.

So, maybe wardrobe therapy is not for me. However, I'm enjoying following Cookbook and her friends in their therapy journey. This week is 'style statement' week. Fun for me to see other people's styles. Cookbook uses this fun site, Polyvore, to create fashion sets, so I thought I'd give it a shot or two to show off my (lack of) style. It *is* fun to go through the different items to put an outfit together. It would be funner to get to actually keep the pieces and have a buncha new outfits.  But alas.  This is the real world, and I'm just wastin' time on the 'net.

First, I will share with you my current (lack of) style.  At some time in the future, I'll put together what I'd like to get into, experiment with...ya know get all crazy with actual style.  But...for now....

Here's my S*T*Y*L*E.  This is me, gettin' all dressed up.  Like to meet a friend for dinner.  Or going out for drinks or something. It's called Going Out.

I would totally wear all that junk. And now, I want those shoes. As you can see, I'm a complete Plain Jane. Jeans, solid shirt. The only place I ever get "wild" is with the jewelry, if you can call a necklace with varying colors "wild." Bor-ing! Right?

And, here is my other style. Ready? I call it, Big Comfy Clothes. It's my around-the-house wear.

The pathetic thing about this?  I wouldn't think twice about switching the comfy pants out for a pair of jeans to wear this out and about.  Again, plain, solid, snore.

So, in conclusion, Melzer needs a style intervention, STAT.  Once I get employed, that is.  And get some staples in my new casa.  Then I'll work on my wardrobe.  Who wants to help?  I need all the advice I can get!! :)
