To a "T"
Almost a month ago, I got this birth control, an IUD called Mirena. Well, it's not exactly an IUD...it's an IUC, but let's not get technical. So, of course, as with all things for me, thinags haven't gone smoothly. I'm just lucky that way. Guess who has a small uterus? Arguably, the only small thing on me. So, Mirena (which looks like a "T"...and is one size fits all) wasn't fitting completely in my itty bitty uterus, and was sticking out below my cervix some. No harm to me, and we scheduled another appointment a week later to see if it had "shimmied up some." Surprisingly, it had moved up a bit, but not all the way. So, I was sent home to have sex and see if it poked Tony. Isn't that wonderful? Let's get jiggy, honey, but if something impales your penis, oops - sorry! Anyway, some careful experimenting ensued, and I still have my IUD. IUC. Whatever. That's about all I had time for, because I got my period a week early and it has been God-awful heavy ever since. It's also been 8 days so far. Apparently a normal side effect for the first few months. Apparently sucky. I am not negative about the experience, though, mainly since I went back to my favorite OBGYN-turned-GYN-only and he is awesome. His new office is awesome. The staff is awesome. So, that rocks. If I ever stop bleeding, I guess we'll know for certain if Mirena gets to stay in its tiny home or not. I hope it all works out and the side effects go away quickly. In time, lots of women get lighter periods or stop having them altogether. Plus - and this was the biggest surprise - insurance covered all but a $30 co-pay for it and it can cost like 500 bucks. And it can stay in for 5 years.

omg, was Tony scared? lol "If something impales your penis" are not words I'd think most men would want to hear! Ack!
I hope your cycles and the iuc work themselves out (or in).
