To pick or not to pick...

Listening to: Abbey Road - The Beatles
Reading: nothing...in between books at the moment

Ah, feeling better today. Refreshed and clean, since I just had a shower. More motivated to be awake today, also. The weather's still crapo, but not much I can do about that. I'm not burning inside to clean house or anything, but I do have a slight impulse to rid the sink of last night's dirty dishes and clean the kitchen counters/dining room table. Even though I have a headache, overall it's a much better day.

Ok, the chili. Here in the 'Nati, we have what are called 3-ways. This is spaghetti, topped with chili, topped with shredded cheddar cheese. Or you can make it a 4-way: spaghetti, chili, cheese and chopped onion. Or substitute the onion with beans...still a 4-way. Go nuts and add both onion and beans and you have a 5-way. Chili is a big thing in Cincinnati. What I made the other night was not a 3-way, but just chili with spaghetti in it...kind of a quasi-3-way, if you will. Not to say that I always put spaghetti in my chili; this recipe just called for it.

I finished my David Sedaris book this morning. I'd totally recommend it! It's a collection of short essays on his life. All had humorous moments, but really, the essays all struck me as very real and sometimes kinda sad. Sedaris is a very honest writer. Straightforward, and I appreciate that. Of course, I'll have to get all of his other books now! Typical of me to become attached to one writer at a time.

If you were a bass guitar player, would you use a pick? I totally would not. It just seems wussy to me. Me, being a non-expert in any way, of course. I think it stems from Winger. Remember Winger? Yeah, they sucked. Kip Winger and his hair used a pick and I think it just looked silly. Maybe he just looked silly and I now forever associate his silliness with picking a bass? ("Get a life," my readers shout from behind their monitors.) I just read that Paul McCartney uses a pick. Hmm, and he is a rawkin' bass player. I think, though, if I were to take up bass, I'd be a finger-user. Crap, maybe I'll get a big ole double bass and use my fingers and a bow. Or maybe I'll just do as you suggested, and get a life.
